November 16, 2023

We would like to inform you that Moxa is going to make changes to the ICF-1180I-S-ST and ICF-1280I-S-ST Series.

These changes will be implemented November 2023.
Please review the details below to determine how these changes will affect your products and/or operations.

What will change?

ICF-1180I-S-ST Series and ICF-1280I-S-ST Series Industrial PROFIBUS-to-single-mode fiber converters will be changed because of the end of life of fiber components.

Which products will be affected?

Product Name   Current Version      New Version
ICF-1180I-S-ST    v2.0.1 v2.0.2
ICF-1280I-S-ST v2.0.1 v2.0.2

When will the new versions be available?

Product Name   New Version      Available for Order
ICF-1180I-S-ST    v2.0.2 June 30, 2024
ICF-1280I-S-ST v2.0.2 June 30, 2024

This modification to the fiber optic module involves updates to certifications, including CE, FCC, DNV, UL 508, CID2, ATEX, IECEx, and other certification reports.
The updates for each certification will take place at different times.
The specific timelines for each milestone and the subsequent verification dates are as follows:
  • November 24, 2023: Obtain CE, FCC, DNV certifications.
  • February 26, 2024: Obtain UL 508 certification.
  • June 30, 2024: Obtain CID2, ATEX, IECEx certifications.

Because of the extended certification process, the launch date for the ICF-1180I Series and ICF1280I Series have been rescheduled to June 30, 2024.
If you have any urgent order requirements, please contact your regional sales representative.

Note:

The new and old versions are identical in specifications, but because of differences in material characteristics between the two versions, it is recommended to use them in pairs as much as possible. If mixed use is necessary, it is known that in specific optical power conditions, the old version may have difficulty communicating with the new version at distances typically less than 20 meters. In such cases, it is advised to add a 3dB attenuator to the new version's Fiber Tx, which should fix this problem. If issues persist with mixed usage, please contact Moxa customer service for help.

The timeline for certification depends on inventory conditions and the testing schedule of the verification lab.
